Island Oil & Gas plc ('Island' or the 'Company') received a notification dated 18 August 2009 from Gartmore of a change in its notifiable interest in its holding in the Company.  The notification states that Gartmore is the beneficial holder of 16,119,567 ordinary shares of €0.01 each in the Company, representing 11.859% of the 135,926,678 shares in issue.
