The Directors of The Investment Company plc announce Net Revenue after Taxation
for the year ended 31 March 2002 of £1,023,797 (£940,157). Dividends paid and
proposed in respect of the year total £938,727 (£884,455) leaving retained
earnings transferred to Reserves of £85,070 (£55,702).

The Directors are recommending a Final Dividend on the Ordinary Shares of 7p
(6p) making a total for the year of 11p (10p). It is intended that the Final
Dividend will be paid on 9 August 2002 to Ordinary shareholders on the register
on 12 July 2002. The shares will go ex-dividend on 10 July 2002.

Arising from the increased Ordinary dividend, the Participating Preference
shareholders will be entitled to a total participation of 2.25p per share
payable on 1 October 2002 with the basic half-yearly dividend of 3.5p per share.
This will make a total annual payment of 9.25p per Participating Preference
Share (9p).

The Net Asset Value per Ordinary share at 31 March 2002 was 258.68p, compared
with 302.57p at 31 March 2001.
