Investec investor briefing


The management of Investec will host an investor briefing on Wednesday, 22
September 2004 commencing at 11:00 (UK time) 12:00 (South African time). A
presentation will be given, focusing on developments within the core business
areas and the group since Investec's year-end results.

All interested parties may attend the investor briefing, the details of which
are as follows:

Date: Wednesday, 22 September 2004

Time: 11:00 -12:30 (UK time); 12:00 - 13:30 (SA time)

Venue: Via video conference from Investec's offices in Sandton (100 Grayston,
Drive Sandown), Cape Town (36 Hans Strijdom Avenue, Foreshore) and London (2
Gresham Street, EC2V7QP).

Furthermore, for those people who are unable to attend the briefing, the
following options will be available:

• A toll free telephone conference facility.

   • A DELAYED webcasting of the presentation will be available on the
