Investec plc advises of the following information released in respect of Investec Finance plc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Investec plc.

INVESTEC FINANCE PLC

Purchase of £36,670,000 Fixed/Floating Undated Subordinated Callable Step-Up Notes

Investec Finance plc announced today that £36,670,000 in aggregate principal amount of its £350,000,000 Fixed/Floating Undated Subordinated Callable Step-Up Notes issued under its Euro Medium Term Note Programme and guaranteed by Investec Bank plc (the 'Notes') had been accepted for purchase pursuant to a cash tender offer on or around 7 July 2009 by Investec Gresham Limited, another member of the Investec group. 

Investec Gresham Limited announced that it had determined - pursuant to a modified Dutch auction procedure - a purchase price of £450 per £1,000 in principal amount of the Notes, together with accrued interest to the date of settlement. 

It is expected that all Notes so purchased by Investec Gresham Limited will be retained in the Investec group or subsequently capitalised. In the event of any subsequent capitalisation, the Notes will be cancelled. 

As at the date of settlement of the purchase of the Notes by Investec Gresham Limited, Investec Finance plc expects the aggregate principal amount of the Notes outstanding and not held by Investec Gresham Limited to be £313,330,000 representing approximately 89.5 per cent. of the issued aggregate principal amount of the Notes at the date of issue.
