Perpetual UK Smaller Co's IT PLC

The Board of Perpetual UK Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc announced, in
its Chairman's Statement, which was released on 22nd March 2001, that Mr Garth
Milne and Mr John Spooner had been appointed non-executive directors of the
Company with effect from 21st March 2001. The information below in respect of
Mr Garth Milne and Mr John Spooner is disclosed pursuant to Rule 16.4 of The
Listing Rules.

Mr Milne, aged 58, is currently a director of BFS UK Dual Return Trust PLC,
Govett Emerging Markets Investment Trust PLC, HL Income and Growth Trust PLC
and Murray Extra Return Investment Trust PLC. He was formerly a director of
Warburg Dillon Read.

Mr Spooner, aged 47, is a director of Quester Limited, a company which he
founded. He is also currently a director of Centrifugal Estates Limited,
Partech International Limited, Quester Services Limited, Quester Nominees
Limited, Quester Capital Management Limited, Quester Venture Managers Limited,
Querist Limited, Quester VCT plc, Quester VCT 2 plc, Quester VCT 3 plc and
Quester VCT 4 plc. In the previous 5 years he was a director of PKL Group
Limited, London Ventures (General Partner) Limited, REL Consultancy Group
Limited and Warner Howard plc.

Neither Mr Milne or Mr Spooner have any details which require disclosure under
paragraphs 6.F.2 (b) to (g) of the UKLA Listing Rules.
