                          ITS ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD DIRECTOR


Dr Wolfhart Hauser is appointed a Non-Executive Director of Intertek Testing
Services plc with immediate effect.

Dr Hauser was until earlier this year the CEO and President of TUV
Suddeutschland.  TUV Sud is the largest testing, inspection and certification
company in Germany with 10,000 people across three divisions: industry, 
transportation and products. From 1988 until 1997 Dr Hauser was CEO of, TUV 
Product Service, the product testing and certification division of TUV Sud.



Dr Hauser trained as a medical doctor at Munich University and also completed a
Senior Executive Management Programme at The London Business School.
