Dividend Declaration

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION

The IBM Board of Directors today declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of
$.12 per common share, payable September 10, 1999 to stockholders of record, on
August 10, 1999. IBM stock will be traded ex-dividend on the New York Stock
Exchange starting August 6, 1999.
