PURCHASE OF SHARES FOR HOLDING IN TREASURY 

International Biotechnology Trust plc (the 'Company') announces that on 31 October 2008 the Company purchased 500,000 shares at a price of 118.0 pence per share for holding in treasury. Following this purchase, there remain 70,592,664 shares in issue, 2,000,000 of which are held in treasury.
