                    Substantial Share Interest Notification


International Biotechnology Trust plc (the 'Company') was notified on 8 May 2006
that, as at 2 May 2006, Lazard Asset Management LLC ('LAM LLC Group') had an
aggregate notifiable interest, through LAM LLC Group companies listed below, in
1,861,000 ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company, being 3.954% of the
47,065,467 shares in issue. These shares are held in portfolios managed by
Lazard Asset Management Limited on a discretionary basis for clients or Lazard
funds.
