Partnership with TELUS and Gemalto

Intercede is pleased to provide further details of a previously announced contract award in support of a major North American telecommunications company.

Intercede and Gemalto have teamed up to give TELUS employees access to secure buildings and networks with a tap of their smartphones. Intercede's MyID solution is powered by Gemalto's UICC and PIV applications and will give TELUS employees access to secure networks on the go. TELUS employees will be able to access secure buildings, log into secure company networks, and securely share sensitive data with a simple tap of their smartphones.

TELUS is partnering with Intercede, a leading provider of identity and credential management software, and Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, to equip its employees' smartphones with Intercede technology called MyID powered by Gemalto's Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (UICC) and IDPrime Personal Identity Verification (PIV). The technology replaces separate smart cards and security tokens, giving employees access to secure buildings and networks through one highly-secure system housed in their device.

"Intercede has a long-standing relationship with TELUS and we are excited to see the real business benefits MyID will bring our partner," said Richard Parris, Chairman & Chief Executive, Intercede. "Through MyID, user access to mobile services is more secure and lives are simplified by integrating the smart card function into the mobile handset."

"Gemalto's embedded software will create a secure environment for TELUS employees to have total confidence in the ability of their mobile devices to manage sensitive data," said Jean-François Ouillet, Vice-President of Mobile Identity, Gemalto. "Our mobile identity and access management solution delivers the optimal balance between convenience and government grade security."

Universal Integrated Circuit Cards (UICCs) host PIV credentials, allowing smartphone users to securely access e-mail and intranets on the go as well as tap physical security readers to access buildings. In addition, technical support is able to manage credentials and block and unblock user access remotely through this technology.

"At TELUS we're aiming to have 70 per cent of our employees working from home at least some of the time by 2015. With that goal in mind we've teamed up with Intercede to ensure our employees can easily access our network any time, from anywhere," said Ken Haertling, Vice-President and Chief Security Officer, TELUS. "What better way to do this than through the convenience of our employees' mobile devices."

Intercede will demonstrate the use of a secure PIV credential on a UICC at Mobile World Congress 24-27 February 2014 at the GSMA Connected City stands.
