Intec Telecom Systems PLC 06 April 2004 Brazil's largest mobile operator, Vivo, selects Intec Telecom Systems to consolidate mediation platforms • Telefonica Moviles and Portugal Telecom wireless joint venture Vivo signs contract for Intec's Inter-mediatE to collect and process over 215 million voice and IP/data calls daily April 6, 2004 - Global operations support systems (OSS) provider Intec Telecom Systems has won the mediation software contract for Vivo, a joint venture between Telefonica Moviles and Portugal Telecom. Vivo will use Intec's mobile mediation solution to consolidate six different companies throughout Brazil into one data collection centre. The contract includes Intec's Inter-mediatETM convergent mobile mediation platform with Duplicate and Correlation Manager as well as Inter-mediatE Reporting. Vivo joins several other major service providers in North America and Europe who have recently chosen to consolidate multiple companies or platforms into a single convergent Inter-mediatE platform. Selected at the conclusion of a detailed and competitive solution analysis, consolidating mediation on Inter-mediatE will enable Vivo to shorten the time to market for new mobile service offerings while reducing operating costs. Inter-mediatE Reporting will allow Vivo to generate revenue assurance reports and gain more control over its mediation processes. Inter-mediatE's Correlation and Duplicate Manager will help Vivo improve its billing accuracy for increased revenue and better customer service quality, particularly for advanced IP-based network services. Luis Beato, CIO of Vivo, said, "We selected Intec because it has a leading-edge, convergent solution for high-volume mobile mediation, a Centre of Excellence in Brazil, and the technical knowledge to help us provide the most accurate and advanced services to our customers. Because Vivo serves over half of the cellular subscribers in Brazil, we needed a high performance solution that can handle our current customer demand and scale to meet our needs as we continue to grow." The implementation of Inter-mediatE at Vivo will be managed by Intec's Centre of Excellence in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and will be completed in the third quarter of 2004. Vivo has more than 21 million customers in 19 Brazilian states, including the Federal District, covering 86 percent of the region. The Brazilian mobile market is experiencing very rapid growth. Anatel, Brazil's telecommunications regulator, estimated mobile phone users in Brazil at 46.4 million at the end of 2003. "As shown in benchmark testing, Inter-mediatE is capable of processing more than 1.2 billion network events per hour," said Per Martell, Caribbean and Latin American operations director for Intec. "Inter-mediatE was the mediation platform of choice for each of the individual companies that now form Vivo. Selection again by the Vivo joint venture validates that Inter-mediatE delivers solid business value and a measurable return on investment to all mobile operators, regardless of size."
