Appointment of Mr John Hughes as non-executive Chairman
29 March 2005: The Board of Intec Telecom Systems ("Intec") is pleased to
announce the appointment of a new independent non-executive Chairman, Mr. John
Hughes. Mr. Hughes has more than thirty years experience leading high technology
businesses, including senior positions at Thales Group, where he was latterly
Executive VP & Chief Operating Officer. His strong track record in large
technology businesses will be invaluable to the ongoing successful development
of Intec, particularly in light of the opportunities raised by the 2004
acquisition of Singl.eView.
Mr. Hughes' responsibilities as non-executive Chairman will focus on Board
leadership, strategy, corporate and financial governance, as well as working
closely with the executive team headed by CEO, Kevin Adams. Mike Frayne,
currently Executive Chairman, will now assume the role of non-executive
Director. He will also act as a strategic advisor to the Board.
"Intec is a strong and successful company that has achieved great results during
a turbulent period for the telecoms industry," added John Hughes. "I believe
that it is now ready for the next phase of its development into a major player
in the industry, and I look forward to leading the Board and working with its
management in this effort."
"As a founder of Intec I am extremely proud of what the business has achieved to
date, and of its ability to attract executives of the calibre of John Hughes,"
said Mike Frayne. "The recent Singl.eView deal is transforming Intec, and
provides a strong platform from which the company can develop further. I am
confident that John, Kevin and the management team will lead Intec into its next
phase of development and I look forward to working closely with John and the
Board in my new role."
"I am delighted to welcome John to the Board as Chairman," said Kevin Adams,
Chief Executive Officer. "I also want to record my thanks to Mike Frayne for his
substantial contribution in bringing Intec to where it is today. Intec has an
executive team with broad and deep experience, and I am very confident about its
future."
Intec will hold its Annual General Meeting on 28 April 2005. Election or
re-election of Directors as required by the company's Articles, including Mr.
Hughes, will take place at the AGM.
