Appointment of Chief Technology Officer

Publishing Technology plc (AIM: PTO.L), the leading provider of world-class software and services to the global publishing industry, is delighted to announce the appointment of David Montgomery in the newly created role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), with immediate effect.

David joins from Inspired Thinking Group (ITG), a Tech Track 100 company, where he held the position of Managing Director of Software Operations. Prior to that, he spent ten years as Director of Technology at 5 Fifteen, the software systems and consultancy company, before joining media content company, ATEX, where he held various roles, latterly as Chief Innovation Officer.

With over 20 years' industry experience and a proven track record in delivering and supporting software development, David brings the necessary skills to drive the Group's IT strategy, including vision, innovation and product roadmap. In addition to defining the technical architecture and development of the Group's core products, David will manage their testing, rollout and on-going support, working in close collaboration with the Group's customers to ensure that product strategy and development is aligned with client requirements.

The CTO position has been created as a result of the strategic review and the implementation of CEO Michael Cairns' proposals to restructure the Group into a skills-led organisation. Other core features of the new strategy include targeting the potential market in China and working with implementation partners to reduce risk and to ensure the Group's remains focused on its recognised strengths in the engineering, design and development of world-class software.

To support this, the Group is currently recruiting to fill the new position of Global Projects Director which has been created to oversee the implementation of large scale projects across the global client base. The senior management team has also been strengthened by the promotion of Randy Petway to EVP, Global Product Strategy, and Jay Teitelbaum to EVP, Global Client Services.

Michael Cairns, CEO of Publishing Technology, commented:"Following my appointment as CEO earlier this year, we've been looking at ways to strengthen our senior management team in order to support our ambitious business strategy. David is the first high profile appointment we've made as a part of this plan and we are delighted to welcome him aboard.

David's proven track record in delivering successful software projects and his knowledge of this publishing space will be invaluable to help move our company forward. As part of the strengthening of the team, Randy Petway and Jay Teitelbaum have taken on new roles which play to their individual strengths and we all look forward to welcoming in due course a new Global Projects Director to complete our senior management team."

David Montgomery, new CTO at Publishing Technology: "This is an exciting time to join Publishing Technology. The company has a diverse team with an impressive array of skills and expertise who have produced a modern, highly functional suite of publishing applications. Moving forward, I look forward to working closely with all staff to ensure the products realise their potential. My goal is to continually drive and deliver high quality, relevant software at pace, whilst pushing the boundaries of innovation. The digital world is highly fluid and I believe that Publishing Technology is perfectly poised to lead the way in its market."
