Discussions regarding potential acquisition of Springer Science + Business Media ("Springer") ceased

Further to the announcement made on 24 November 2009 in response to press speculation, the Board of Informa plc ("Informa" or the "Company") announces that it has ceased discussions regarding a potential acquisition of Springer.

Whilst there is clear strategic logic in combining Springer and Informa, the Board has concluded after detailed consideration that the current environment is not conducive to making such a significant acquisition in the timescale required by the vendors.

The Company confirms that trading remains in line with management expectations for the full year.
