Non-Executive Director Appointed

Inchcape plc, the international automotive services group, is pleased to
announce the appointment of Ken Hanna as Non-Executive Director with effect
from today.

Mr. Hanna, 48, is currently a Partner of Compass Partners International
Limited, a private equity investment firm. He is a Fellow of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants, having qualified with Coopers and Lybrand in 1976.

Prior to joining Compass Partners in 1999, Mr. Hanna was Group Chief Executive
of Dalgety plc, now PIC International plc. He joined Dalgety in 1997 as Group
Finance Director and was appointed Group Chief Executive in 1998. For the
period 1999 - 2000, Mr. Hanna was a Non-Executive for PIC International plc.

Mr. Hanna has valuable experience in managing businesses in Continental Europe
and also has extensive knowledge of the automotive services industry, having
spent nine years with Avis Europe Ltd. He joined Avis in 1984 as Finance
Director of the UK subsidiary and progressed through a number of roles to
become Group Finance Director.
