Impax Environmental Markets plc ("the Company") has been notified
that following the merger of The Alliance Trust plc and The Second
Alliance Trust plc, which became effective as of 21 June 2006, all
shares held by The Second Alliance Trust Plc have been transferred to
The Alliance Trust.

The Second Alliance Trust plc no longer holds an interest in the
shares of the Company.

Following the merger, Alliance Trust Plc has a beneficial interest in
3,932,966 ordinary shares in the Company, representing 3.08% of the
shares presently in issue.
