Designed specifically for the needs of R&D departments of major manufacturers, the MDXI range allows for detailed one-off - or small batch inspections - of materials and equipment. Nicholas Fox, Chief Executive of Image Scan Holdings plc, commented: 'The R&D market represents an important niche within the $1 billion industrial inspection market. It likewise provides a strategic route into a broad range of global manufacturing businesses. We believe the low-cost MDXI range will play an important role in standardising 3D based x-ray inspection in the industrial market.' Unlike traditional 2D x-ray devices currently on the market, Image Scan's 3D MDXI range provides detailed, three dimensional data - as well as structural information - on concealed objects. In December 2004, Image Scan announced a follow-on order of £600,000 for a major industrial inspection system from Johnson Matthey after the company had originally ordered a stand-alone system for use in its laboratories. - ends - Note to editor The MDXI range is a range of turnkey units designed to meet the requirements of one-off or small batch inspections. Instead of being an in-line conveyor based system, the units employ a 2 axis platen to manoeuvre an object through the inspection process. All units in the MDXI range feature Image Scan's proprietary 3DX-CamerasTM.
