INDUSTRIAL CONTRACTS

The Board of Image Scan, specialists in the field of real-time 3D and 2D x-ray imaging for the 'Homeland Security' and 'Industrial Inspection' markets, is pleased to announce a £138,000 industrial inspection system contract.

During 2012 the Company has seen a steady flow of sales to the industrial sector such that new industrial orders in this financial year total £928,000, much of which is deliverable prior to the end of September.  This is in addition to the brought forward industrial order book from the previous financial year of over £700,000.

Whilst by comparison the industrial order intake of £1.4m in the previous financial year was higher, this was substantially underpinned by a significant contract of £875,000 to the nuclear sector, which is deliverable over 3 financial periods, whereas the current year orders stem from a wider range of products and customers.

In addition to sales of Image Scan's existing MDXi-400 and MDXi-NT systems, which have historically provided online inspection capability for diesel particulate filters, the Company has developed a new compact, lower cost version of the MDXi equipment.

The new MDXi-200 system's small footprint and high performance will increase the effectiveness of process control for organisations performing x-ray inspection on production lines without significant impact to their existing plant layout.

Now the MDXi-200 can be applied to a broader range of manufacturing markets where production line footprint is a key consideration for inspection systems and is increasingly a factor in the layout and cost of productions lines.

The development of the MDXi-200 was in response to needs expressed by the Company's customer feedback and market analysis programs. Multiple orders have been received for this smaller, high quality system.

Also during this year the Company has supplied a new industrial system capable of providing automated production line inspection of small medical devices. This system is being used to confirm the quality of devices used by medical practitioners for obtaining blood samples.

Both new systems have benefited from progress in the 3DX-RAY software development program which combined with the new hardware is expected to open up further sales opportunities.

Image Scan's CEO, Louise George, commented: "The Company is pleased for the opportunity to work closely with major suppliers within the automotive and the pharmaceutical device markets to develop new applications for our industrial technology.  This broadens our product range and provides a basis to continue the growth in industrial sales as seen over the past two years."
