Non-Executive Director Appointment

 

The board of IDOX plc ("IDOX" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Dame Wendy Hall DBE FRS FREng as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.

 

Wendy Hall is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Southampton and Dean of the Faculty of Physical and Applied Sciences, a Fellow of the Royal Society, as well holding many other Fellowships, honorary degrees and awards, including from: the Royal Academy of Engineering; the Association of Computing Machinery; and the British Computer Society. She has also been given the rare honour of being made a Guest Professor at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China and sits on the boards of the British Library and the Defence Science Technology Laboratory. Wendy is well-known as a strong and vocal advocate for women's opportunities in Science, Engineering and Technology.

 

Wendy has been a member of the Prime Minister's Council for Science and Technology, a member of the Scientific Council of the European Research Council and a council member of the EPSRC. She was the holder of an EPSRC Senior Fellowship from 1996-2002.

 

Wendy was also a founding director, along with Professor Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Professor Nigel Shadbolt and Daniel J. Weitzner, of the Web Science Research Initiative, a research collaboration between the University of Southampton and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, launched in 2006, and is now a director of the Web Science Trust.

 

Professor Hall has published over 400 papers in areas such as hypermedia, multimedia, digital libraries, web science and web technologies, particularly the Semantic Web. She regularly speaks at conferences and major events around the world and was the President of the Association of Computing Machinery from 2008-2010, the first person from outside America to hold this prestigious post.

 

Wendy also has substantial experience in the world of business and commerce having been involved in the launch of several companies including Active Navigation, Garlik and Seme4.

Professor Hall holds 27,225 ordinary shares in IDOX representing approximately 0.01% of the issued share capital.
