           ITE Group plc ('ITE' or 'the Company') - Share Purchases

                     Chairman increases his shareholding

Lawrie Lewis, Chairman of ITE, purchased yesterday, through his wholly owned
company, Greenspan Holdings Limited, a further 500,000 ordinary shares in the
Company at a price of 21.5p per share. He now owns 33,748,514 ordinary shares
in the Company, representing 13.03% of the issued share capital of ITE.

In addition, 3,250,000 ordinary shares were purchased on behalf of ITE ESOT,
the employee share option trust, at a price of 21.5p per share. 4,457,000
ordinary shares are now held in ITE ESOT, representing 1.72% of the issued
share capital of ITE.

Lawrie Lewis, Chairman, ITE said :

'I have taken the opportunity to purchase further shares as a demonstration of
my commitment to ITE. This year we have experienced strong trading conditions
in our core markets - Russia & the CIS, which form the backbone of our
business. More recently we announced the acquisition of 75% of ITE Moda
Limited, the organisers of the UK Harrogate Womenswear Fashion events. The
first of these events, under the ITE banner, will be held in August and we
have received an enthusiastic response to our plans for MODA UK which will be
launched at the NEC in February 2002.'
