Appointment of Non-Executive Director

MFI Furniture Group Plc, the UK's leading retailer of kitchens and
bedrooms, announces the appointment of a new non-executive director.

Tony De Nunzio, 40, will take up his appointment to the board of MFI
with effect from 19th September 2000.

Tony De Nunzio is Chief Financial Officer of Wal-Mart Europe. He
joined ASDA Group Ltd. in 1994 and has held a number of senior
managerial positions including Retail Finance Director and Group
Finance Director. Before joining the company, Tony was Finance
Director at Allied Maples Ltd. He was Planning Director for Central
Europe for PepsiCo in the early 1990's after leaving the post of Group
Financial Controller for L'Oreal (UK) Ltd in 1990.  He started his
career with Unilever PLC.

Commenting on the appointment, Ian Peacock, Chairman of MFI, said:

financial experience and almost two decades in the international
