The Company has received notification pursuant to Section 198 of the Companies
Act 1985 ('the Act'), that at the close of business on 18th November 2005:

- Essex County Council is an investor in Hermes UK Focus Fund which has
  a 4.04% interest in MFI Furniture Group Plc. Essex County Council has an
  additional position in MFI Furniture Group Plc via pooled vehicles managed by
  Legal & General Investment Management. The current value of the UK Equity 
  Index Fund is £381m of which MFI Furniture Group PLC constitutes 0.025%.
