                       APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


MFI Furniture Group Plc announces it has appointed Shaun O'Callaghan to the
Board as executive director responsible for Strategy and Development with effect
from 26 March 2004.

Shaun, aged 35, joined MFI in December 2003. Prior to joining the company, Shaun
was a Partner at KPMG and worked closely with MFI's Board as an adviser on a
number of strategic issues. While at KPMG, he played a major role in developing
their successful corporate restructuring practice.  Shaun has also held posts in
Norwich Union and in Arthur Andersen, where he trained as a chartered
accountant.


Ian Peacock, Chairman of MFI commented:


'We are delighted to announce that Shaun has joined the Board after joining the
Company in December 2003.  We believe that he will make a major contribution
towards the development of the Company's short and medium-term strategic
direction'.
