                          HORNBY PLC ('the Company')

                          PURCHASE OF OWN SECURITIES

Further to a general authority obtained at the Company's last AGM to purchase
up to 15 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital, the Company
purchased on 15 March 2001 1.1 million ordinary shares of 5p each ('Ordinary
Shares') at 145p representing 13.16 per cent. of the Company's issued share
capital. The shares subject to the buyback will be duly cancelled.
