Hiscox plc (the 'Company')
The Company has been notified that the Standard Life Group has an interest in
4,513,123 ordinary shares of 5p each in the Company, or 3.045 per cent. of the
Company, following the purchase of 404,983 ordinary shares on 20 June 2001.
