On 17 October 2006, Hiscox plc allotted 5,639 shares under the Hiscox Approved
Share Option Scheme at an exercise price of £1.281 each and 14,099 shares under
the Hiscox Unapproved Share Option Scheme at an exercise price of £1.755.

These shares will rank pari passu with the existing class of ordinary 5p shares
in issue.

The issued share capital of Hiscox plc is now 393,080,567 ordinary shares of 5p
each.
