Hiscox plc ('Hiscox') has been notified on 4 December 2003 on behalf of Fidelity
International Limited ('FIL'), that FIL and various direct and indirect
subsidiaries, as non-beneficial holders, are interested in 17,109,235 ordinary
shares of 5p each in the issued share capital of Hiscox, representing 5.92 per
cent. of the issued share capital.
