Hiscox plc ('Hiscox') has been notified today on behalf of Landsdowne Partners
Limited Partnership ('Landsdowne') that Landsdowne as non-beneficial holder, is
interested in 13,280,000 ordinary shares of 5p each in the issued share capital
of Hiscox, representing 4.6 per cent. of the issued share capital.

The shares are registered in the name of MORSTAN Nominees Limited.
