Change of Board of Directors

Hamilton, Bermuda (1 December 2010) -- Hiscox Ltd (LSE:HSX), the international specialist insurer, today announces the following changes to the Board of Hiscox Ltd.

Richard Gillingwater and Robert (Bob) McMillan have been appointed as non-executive directors with effect from 1 December 2010.

Richard Gillingwater, 54, CBE, is Dean of Cass Business School.  Educated at Oxford and a lawyer by training, he spent a decade at Kleinwort Benson, before moving to and eventually becoming joint head of corporate finance for BZW, a division of Barclays Bank. When that became Credit Suisse First Boston, he became chairman of European Investment Banking.

In 2003 he became chief executive and later chairman of the Shareholder Executive which manages the Government's day-to-day relationships with government-owned businesses. He is currently a non-executive director of Scottish and Southern Energy.  He is also chairman of CDC, the development finance body.  He was a non-executive director of Tomkins until September 2010, Debenhams until April 2009 and Qinetiq Group until January 2006.  He was awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List 2008 in recognition of his services to the financial services industry.

Robert Hiscox, Chairman said "We are delighted to welcome such a distinguished and experienced director to the Board."

Robert (Bob) McMillan, 58, a US citizen, spent 24 years with the Progressive Insurance Corporation where he served in various positions including national director of product development, then claims before becoming national director of marketing.  He led Progressive's initiatives in multi-channel distribution, financial responsibility based rating, and immediate response claims.  He has received two United States patents related to motor insurance pricing.  He has lectured on business innovation at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business and at the Harvard Business School.  He has been a non-executive director of Hiscox Inc. since March 2007.

Robert Hiscox, Chairman said "Bob has been a valued member of the Hiscox Inc. board and we are pleased that he has agreed to join the Hiscox Ltd board."

There are no other details that are required to be disclosed in respect of the appointments of Richard Gillingwater and Robert McMillan under Paragraph 9.6.13 of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
