                Market Purchase by the Company of its Own Shares



Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at the Annual
General Meeting of the Company held on 15 May 2007 to make market purchases of
the Company's own shares of 5p, a market purchase of 400,000 ordinary shares in
the capital of the Company was made yesterday at a price of 148p per share.  The
shares will be held in Treasury.



The issued share capital of the Company following this purchase remains
85,835,744 ordinary shares of 5p each.



On a poll ordinary shareholders have one vote for every 5p in nominal value.
Following this buy-back the figure to be used as the denominator for
calculations of interests in the Company's voting rights has reduced to
85,435,744.
