                HELICAL BAR PLC ('Helical Bar' or 'the Company')

          NOTIFICATION OF INTERESTS OF DIRECTORS AND CONNECTED PERSONS

The Company was informed on 27 March 2003 that under the rules of the Helical
Bar plc Share Incentive Plan (the 'Plan'), Helical Bar Trustees Limited had
purchased 4,100 ordinary shares in the Company at 578p per share.  These shares
were purchased using contributions to the Plan by the directors and employees of
the company, matched in a ratio of 2:1 by the Company in accordance with the
Plan rules.
