Headlam Group PLC 6 November 2000 Headlam Group plc - Trading Statement Resignation Of Chief Executive The trading performance of the Floorcoverings distribution business remains strong. Sales from this business in the first 10 months are up 6% on a like for like basis with last year and profitability is in line with plan. Gradus has invested in new products and sales resource, but this has not yet produced the expected increase in sales and profitability will fall short of plan. However, profitability is expected to be in line with last year. Since the half year, the levels of anticipated sales and profitability from Eclipse have deteriorated from plan and last year. Whilst still in the early stages, the Group is in discussion with several interested parties with the objective of disposing of its interest in its fabrics businesses. In these circumstances, a limited restructuring of the Board has taken place. Ian Kirkham, Chief Executive, has decided to leave the Company and, with immediate effect, Tony Brewer, Managing Director of the Floorcoverings division, is appointed Chief Executive. Trevor Larman, Chairman, said today: 'Ian Kirkham has had a major impact on the development of the Group over a number of years and we wish him well in the future. We believe we have a clear strategy and a strong team to implement it to the benefit of the Group.' Enquiries: Gavin Anderson (UK) Limited 020 7457 2345 Richard Constant Julian Wilson
