UK Coal advises that, pursuant to the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules, it was notified on 2 October 2008 of the following transactions:

For the purposes of the following please note that Peel Land and Property Investments Limited, Goodweather Investments (UK) Limited and Goodweather Holdings (IOM) Limited are all companies within the Peel Holdings Group.

On 30 September 2008 Peel Land and Property Investments Limited disposed of its entire interest of 38,357,633 ordinary shares of 1p (which represented 24.41% of the voting rights in the total issued share capital of UK Coal) and hence no longer has a notifiable interest in the voting rights attached to the issued ordinary share capital of UK Coal.

Following a transaction on 30 September 2008 Goodweather Investments (UK) Limited had a notifiable interest in 38,357,633 ordinary shares of 1p, representing 24.41% of the voting rights in the total issued ordinary share capital of UK Coal.

On 1 October 2008 Goodweather Investments (UK) Limited disposed of its entire interest of 38,357,633 ordinary shares of 1p (which represented 24.41% of the voting rights in the total issued share capital of UK Coal) and hence no longer has a notifiable interest in the voting rights attached to the issued ordinary share capital of UK Coal.

Following a transaction on 1 October 2008 Goodweather Holdings (IOM) Limited has a notifiable interest in 38,357,633 ordinary shares of 1p, representing 24.41% of the voting rights in the total issued ordinary share capital of UK Coal.
