The Hammerson Scrip Dividend Scheme - Scrip Reference Share Price
On 21 February 2011, the Company announced its results for the year ended 31 December 2010 and declared a Final Dividend of 8.8p ("the 2010 Final Dividend") to be paid entirely as a Property Income Distribution ("PID"), with a scrip alternative. Shareholders electing to participate in the Scrip Dividend Scheme (the "Scheme") will receive new ordinary shares in the Company instead of cash in respect of the 2010 Final Dividend which is proposed to be paid on 13 May 2011.
The Scrip Reference Share Price which will be used in calculating the number of new ordinary shares is 447.8p.
This figure is equal to the average of the closing middle market quotations derived from the Daily Official List of the London Stock Exchange for the five dealing days commencing on 9 March 2011, being the day on which the Company's ordinary shares were first quoted "ex dividend".
A letter summarising how Shareholders can participate in the Scheme (the "Letter") will be posted to Shareholders on 21 March 2011. This letter will also be available on the Company's website, www.hammerson.com, on 21 March 2011, together with a guide containing the terms and conditions of the Scheme (the "Guide").
The deadline by which Shareholders can elect to participate in the Scheme is 18 April 2011. As further detailed in the Letter, the timetable for the 2010 Final Dividend is as follows:
