Hammerson plc appoints Non-Executive Deputy Chairman

Hammerson  announces  that  Graham Pimlott has  been  appointed  non-executive
Deputy Chairman with effect from 1 January 2000.  Mr Pimlott joined the  Board
in 1993.  He is Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Nomination
Committee.  He is also a non-executive director of Tesco plc.

Commenting on the appointment, Ronald Spinney, Chairman, said:

     'I  am  delighted that Graham has agreed to serve as non-executive Deputy
     Chairman  and I am sure he will continue to make a major contribution  to
     the Board.'
