Following the exercise of nil cost options granted on 8 March 2005 under the
Hammerson 2000 Deferred Share Plan, a director of Hammerson plc, Mr R J G
Richards, acquired 31,158 ordinary shares of 25p each in Hammerson plc on 28
March 2008. Of the 31,158 shares acquired, 12,801 shares were sold at £10.92 on
the same day.

As a result of these transactions, Mr R J G Richards now holds 136,339 ordinary
shares of 25p each in Hammerson plc.
