HALFORDS GROUP PLC: PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

Halfords Group PLC ('the Company') announces that on 07 August 2006 it purchased
for cancellation 125,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 304.00p per
ordinary share.

Following the above purchase, the Company have now bought back 3,107,914 shares
for cancellation, since the 8 June when the buy back programme commenced.
