                   HALFORDS GROUP PLC: PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES



Halfords Group PLC announces that on 15 September 2006 it purchased for
cancellation 300,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 334.9583p per ordinary
share.



Following the above purchase, the Company have now bought back 4,885,666 shares
for cancellation, since the 8 June when the buy back programme commenced.
