GUS plc ('GUS') has received a notification from The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc
('Goldman Sachs'), pursuant to Sections 198 to 203 of the Companies Act 1985,     
advising that, as at the close of business on 10 February 2006 Goldman Sachs was 
interested in 33,303,787 ordinary shares in GUS (representing 3.86% of the 
issued ordinary share capital of GUS excluding treasury shares). The 
notification was dated and received on 15 February 2006.
