Great Universal Stores PLC 29 June 2000 GUS APPOINTS CEO FOR EXPERIAN NORTH AMERICA The Great Universal Stores P.L.C. today announces the appointment of Craig Smith as Chief Executive for Experian North America, with effect from 1 July. Craig, 49, was one of the five founding executives of MBNA America Bank and spent 12 years with the company from its launch in 1982. Whilst at MBNA, his responsibilities ranged from marketing to risk control and from IT to international management. Craig has over 25 years of senior retail banking experience and, since 1994, has run his own international management consultancy, Hamilton Partners, specialising in advising financial services organisations around the world. In addition, John Saunders, who has been Chief Executive of Experian in the UK since 1996, becomes Chief Executive of a new combined UK and International division. Craig and John will each report directly to John Peace, Group Chief Executive of GUS. John Peace commented: 'Craig Smith brings tremendous management skills to this new role and I am delighted to welcome him to the team.
