           Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee


The Board of GlaxoSmithKline plc announces that Sir Christopher Hogg, Chairman
of GlaxoSmithKline plc, has been appointed Chairman of the company's Corporate
Social Responsibility Committee. He replaces Sir Richard Sykes who, as
previously announced, retired from the Board at the conclusion of the company's
Annual General Meeting yesterday.

Sir Christopher Hogg was appointed a Non-executive Director in May 2000 and has
succeeded Sir Richard Sykes as Chairman of GlaxoSmithKline plc. He was formerly
a Non-executive Director of SmithKline Beecham plc.
