Purchase of Own Sec's-Replace

announcement released today at 17.09 under RNS No 3087M.

The price per ordinary share should read 1840.9042p and not 1840.9024p, as 
previously stated.

GlaxoSmithKline  plc announces that, in  accordance  with
the  authority  granted  by shareholders  at  the  Annual
General  Meeting  on  21  May  2001,  it  purchased   for
cancellation 2,000,000 of its Ordinary shares on  Monday,
29  October 2001 at a price of 1840.9042p per  share.
