I give below details of changes in interests in the Ordinary Shares of
GlaxoSmithKline plc in respect of the under-mentioned director:-


Dr J P  The Administrators of the SmithKline Beecham US Retirement Savings Plan
Garnier ('the plan') notified GlaxoSmithKline plc on 22nd January 2001 that Dr
        Garnier had increased his interest by 43 Ordinary Share ADRs at a price
        of $53.3750 per share on the 18th January 2001 and by 41 Ordinary Share
        ADRs at a price of $52.7500 on the 19th January 2001. Dr Garnier was
        also notified of these changes on 22nd January 2001.
