POWER TELEPHONE 353 1 605 1029 FAX 353 1 605 1104 GREENCORE GROUP PLC: INTERIM RESULTS For the half year to 29 March 2002 H I G H L I G H T S • Turnover from continuing operations up 45% to €816m • Like-for-like sales growth of 5% • Operating profit from continuing operations up 40% to €50.3m • Profit before tax from continuing operations up 32% to €22.1m • Proceeds to date from disposal programme of €198m, exceeding target Commenting on the results, David Dilger, Chief Executive, Greencore Group plc, said today: ' We are happy with our progress in the first half. We have exceeded our announced targets on our disposal programme and we have sharply improved the strategic direction, focus and growth profile of the Group. While the acquisition of Hazlewood has transformed Greencore, much remains to be done to improve and optimise performance in some of our categories. However, we are now capitalising on our strong combination of market leadership positions, well invested facilities and the mix of cash generative and growth businesses, combined with first class new product development and strong customer relationships, in order to deliver sustained earnings performance to our shareholders'.
