BOARD APPOINTMENT AT GREENCORE GROUP PLC ('GREENCORE')

The Board of Greencore announced today that it has co-opted Mr. Gary Kennedy (50) as a non-executive director of the company with immediate effect. Gary Kennedy is a non-executive director of Elan plc and was appointed to that board in May, 2005 and is currently chairman of its audit committee. From May, 1997 to December, 2005, he was group director of finance & enterprise technology, at Allied Irish Banks, plc (AIB) and a member of the main board of AIB and was also on the board of M&T, AIB's associate in the United States. Prior to that, Mr. Kennedy was group vice president of Nortel Networks Europe having started his management career at Deloitte & Touche. He served on the board of the Industrial Development Authority of Ireland for ten years until he retired in December, 2005. He is a director of the NUI Galway Development Board and chairman of a number of private companies. There are no further disclosures to be made in respect of Mr. Kennedy pursuant to Section 6.6.13 (1)-(6) of the Listing Rules. 

Commenting on this addition to the Board, Greencore's chairman, Ned Sullivan said:-

'The Board is delighted that a business person of Gary Kennedy's calibre with his extensive knowledge and experience which has covered both Irish and international markets has accepted its invitation to join the Board and looks forward to his contribution to the work of the Board'.
