                               BOARD APPOINTMENT


Kathleen O'Donovan, aged 45, has been appointed as a non-executive director of
Great Portland Estates P.L.C. with effect from 1 April 2003. Howard Perlin, who
has been a non-executive director since 1994, will be retiring at the Company's
Annual General Meeting in July 2003.

Richard Peskin, Chairman of Great Portland, said: 'We shall miss Howard's
invaluable contribution but are delighted that Kathleen has agreed to join the
Board next year.  She has been Chief Financial Officer of BTR and Invensys plc
for over eleven years, and is currently a non-executive director at EMI Group
plc and Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Court of the Bank of England.'
