At a Meeting held January 13, 2000, the Board of Directors of GTE Corporation
declared a dividend of forty-seven cents (47c) per share on the Common Stock,
payable April 1, 2000 to shareholders of record on February 21, 2000. The
ex-dividend date for said dividend is February 17, 2000.
