Grafton Group plc ('the company') has been informed on 10th October 2000 by
Bank of Ireland Asset Management Limited of 26 Fitzwilliam Place Dublin 2 that
it and its subsidiaries has a notifiable interest in 2,678,161 Grafton Units
representing 15.40% of the issued share capital of the company.  The Units are
registered in the name of Bank of Ireland Nominees Ltd, as registered owner
only, on behalf of a range of clients who are each the beneficial owner of a
portion of the shareholding.
