Strategic development of mobility as a service

Good Energy Group PLC, the 100% renewable electricity supplier and energy services provider ("Good Energy" or "the Company") has launched a new innovative electric vehicle ("EV") tariff and range of strategic partnerships, as part of its continued development of 'Mobility as a Service'.

The EV market and the 'Mobility as a Service' opportunity

The EV market is accelerating from early adoption to mainstream with clear government support and policy to expedite the transition over the next decade. With a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars now brought forward to 2030 in the UK, following the Government's recent ten-point green plan, the adoption of EVs is set to grow exponentially over the next 10 years.

Increased EV adoption will be a catalyst for a wider electrification revolution across the mobility ecosystem. The traditional petrol and diesel vehicle-centric system will be replaced by a more flexible, customer-centric electric system, where 'Mobility-as-a-Service;' dominates. Direct vehicle ownership is anticipated to decline, as customers evolve from being simply car owners, towards a range of mobility services, including ride sharing, decentralised fleets and vehicle subscriptions.

Zap-Map and 'Mobility as a Service'

With UK electricity demand expected to double by 2050, of which around 40% could be directly attributed to transport, every one of Good Energy's business and domestic energy customer now presents a potential EV growth opportunity for the Company. Specifically, Good Energy will seek to provide business customers, fleet managers and their employees with 100% renewable electricity, charging infrastructure and energy services.

Zap-Map will play a key role for all EV drivers in this transition, by enabling them to plan and pay for EV charging in one app. 'Zap-Pay', released by Zap-Map in September, is a new service that enables EV drivers to use a single, interoperable, app to pay for charging across different networks. The key challenge for many EV drivers and businesses, has been the number of different payment systems and memberships required in order to charge. Zap-Pay solves this issue, removing a key drawback for many potential EV drivers.

Specialised EV time of use tariff

Good Energy has today opened an exclusive trial tariff launching in early 2021, as its best value EV tariff, making it easier for UK road users to switch to electric and power their vehicles with genuinely clean electricity. 'Green Driver', is a smart, insight-driven, "time of use" tariff developed using Zap-Map's rich data. 'Green Driver' offers customers a lower and longer off-peak charging window, starting earlier in the evening at 10pm. Zap-Map's extensive data bank has been invaluable in understanding that extending this window was key to an energy saving tariff fit around drivers' everyday life. The tariff will help customers shift consumption, providing a cost saving, but also supporting the grid at a time of day when a higher proportion of demand is met by renewable energy.

New strategic partnerships

To build a customer centric 'Mobility as a Service' proposition, Good Energy will couple its own core skills as a 100% renewable electricity supplier and services provider, with several strategic partnerships to enhance the offering for its customers. Today, Good Energy has entered three new partnerships to develop EV services for a range of customers:

Mina Energy.

· Mina's innovative and unique technology solution helps to make home charging cost effective and simple for fleets and their drivers. By integrating with drivers' home charging infrastructure and energy providers, Mina supports fleets with paying for work vehicles charged from home.

Juliet Davenport, CEO and Founder, Good Energy, and Chairman of Zap - Map said:

"The electrification of transport sits at the heart of the green revolution we are now witnessing. Put simply; any policy commitments towards achieving net zero cannot be delivered without fundamentally reshaping transport. The EV market in the UK, already growing fast, will have to accelerate even faster.

Good Energy is primed to position itself at the heart of this revolution. Zap-Map was an initial critical step for us. The strategic partnerships we have announced today, alongside the launch of our new EV tariff are the next steps. Good Energy is already an innovator in renewable energy services and provision and mobility as a service is a natural evolution for us."
