                Notification of Preliminary Results Announcement

On behalf of our client, Gooch & Housego PLC, the specialist manufacturer of
precision optical components and bespoke glass engineering items, acousto-optic
devices and instruments for measuring optical radiation, we notify the London
Stock Exchange that the Company will be announcing its preliminary results for
the year ended 30 September 2003 on Tuesday, 2 December 2003.

An analyst briefing will be held at 9.30 am and a press briefing at 11.00 am at
Buchanan Communications Ltd., 107 Cheapside, London, EC2 on Tuesday, 2 December
2003.
